It was time to say
goodbye to this beautiful cruise ship. Los Angeles,
actually San Pedro cruise dock was our stopping
place. For us, it is only a temporary goodbye, because
we will see the Pride of America every week, as
she docks in Maui.
These pictures were taken primarily with our
(now not so) new
Kodak DX6490, which we love. The 10x optical
zoom is great, and the electronics do a fine
job of automatic adjustment and flash operations.

We arrive at the Los Angeles
breakwater.

Light at the end of the breakwall.
|
A fireboat is waiting for the
Pride, and gives us a salute.
|
The Los Angeles harbor
area seems to be a
forest of container cranes.
|
We have a security escort
too.
|
Ah, here is the official welcome.
|
More container cranes.
|
Security also provided by police
helicopter.
|
The Coast Guard station at the harbor.
|
Coast Guard boat with more of those
container cranes in the background.
|
Ah, this brings back memories from when
we lived in the LA area.
|
The helicopter again, but note that
the image is distorted by the Pride's
huge exhaust plume.
|
Another San Pedro landmark.
|
There is another cruise ship in
port...
|
The Monarch of the Seas
|
The Pride must make a complete
rotation, in order to get into
the cruise pier.
|
Starting to turn...
|
We are getting very close to two
ships during the turn...
|
A container ship...
|
And the Monarch...
|
Well, we made it around. Next
stop, cruise pier and debarkation.
