The Swanson's Norwegian Star Cruise

Ocean Views, Sunrises, and Sunsets -- June 1 to 8, 2003

We tend to get up early, so got plenty of pictures of sunrises. There was a magnificent sunset the evening leaving Fanning Island. Tropical sunrise/sunsets are great, but it's hard to beat the Equator. You can see from the photos that sunrise happens very fast. If you aren't ready with your camera, it can be over in a minute or two. Note the problem with condensation. Taking the camera from the air-conditioned cabin right into a tropical morning can mean a fogged lens. We found that taking some lens paper along, and wiping before each shot, was a necessity.

Maui is inspiring, and we have taken a number of sunrise photos from our lanai. Our photo link will allow you to view some of the pictures.

The "thumbnails" following this narrative show the sea views and sunrises/sunsets. They may be "enlarged" by clicking on them with your mouse pointer. Enjoy!
